The importance of punctuation

I’ve noticed lots of people here misusing punctuation, so I thought I’d share some wisdom I’ve acquired through years of writing way too much. 0:-) Here’s a short, free lesson, to save you all some time and trouble. <3

Have you ever considered how a simple colon, all by itself, can completely change the meaning of a sentence? For instance:

1. Jane ate her friend’s sandwich.
2. Jane ate her friend’s colon.

I’m sure we can all agree that while (1) was very naughty of Jane, (2) was much worse. ^_^ So there’s your first lesson: With proper punctuation, you can make a bad sentence worse. ̄\_(ツ)_/ ̄

Stay tuned for more writing tips.
@pawnedge I understand your situation, which is why I can help you.

Commas can also be a very important part of a sentence.

1. Jane was in a house.
2. Jane was in a coma.

This shows that even one comma can transform the meaning of sentence.
You gotta have a copy of the book

I also know that punctuation is important I am literally getting a free english class here for no reason
Punctuation is no longer important...as long as your message gets across..Comma..Comma..chameleon..
See, even the lowly question mark has a place in the grand scheme of English grammar. Consider the following examples:

1) Can I give you a tip, Luke.
2) Can I give you a question, Mark?

Although the second sentence is properly punctuated, it makes less sense. Additionally, I have just messed up my friend’s name, which is not very nice.
