favorite thing in chess

I think the Scholar's Mate is a pretty neat teaching tool for the strength of those diagonals and piece coordination. Other than that, my favorite thing is when you play a game you're proud of.
I like unbalanced positions with lots of tactics no king safety
lots of pieces where noone knows what is happening,
although im not very good at them I like them because they stimulate my mind
and I like simple endgame for their sheer beauty their high precision and its mechanical perfection, its delightful.
I also like the tempo the initiative how pawn gambit works
in the morphy style the dinamic availability of the position,
and I also like the squeezing style with a closed structure
gaining lots of space with no counterplay.
Chess is an extremely punishing game. Just losing a minor piece may be enough to resign a game, regardless of how close your opponent is to mate or promotion. There are other great competitive multiplayer games that are also very punishing, but none are anywhere near as widely played as chess. And that's the second aspect: the community. It's why most of us are still here. :)

Same here, motion. Love dangerous games, and nailing a successful tactic feels so good.
My favorite thing in chess is checkmating opponent's king. With advantage.
I like a good unbalanced Modern Benoni as black. Always dangerous with tactics everywhere.
My favourite thing in chess would have to be a position where a knight is much stronger than any piece on the board, including the queens
mine is when I fork my opponents king and queen with a knight :)
Id love to see ther face :D
