I can't control it, I am just playing too nice sometimes, letting the game draw but in some cases I am just taking it as a win.
Just to be nice, but I don't do it forever.
:)
Offering a draw when winning is sandbagging, which isn't permitted on lichess.
If it's unrated and you don't need the practice, then offer the draw.
You should fight for win!
Keep playing and work on your technique of converting won positions into a full point.
Two reasons to offer a draw in a won position are:
1) A draw will give you a tournament win,
2) Your opponent is much higher rated than you and you fear his counterplay
in the second case, I would go ahead and play for the win anyways. That is how you improve.
Hey Alvin, don't you take classes? And
@danjbrowne you are right. If you want to get a tournament point at the last few seconds you should offer draw. Also
@danjbrowne you are also right about if you are up a knight for example, and your opponent is higher rating then you you should just offer draw and if you think your going to lose.
grgr
I did this once recently lol. It was a practice corres game. Mainly because it was going for a long time and it was against a higher rated opponent and I wanted to analyse it later. Against a friend or somebody it's ok really. In live chess (not correspondence or training) especially rated, you probably shouldn't. If a higher rated player offers you and you are too afraid then maybe but I would say no probably. If you have to go and can't keep playing then you should offer one. As for being nice it's a game and you can always analyse it with your opponent later to be "nice" because it will actually help them out and you might enjoy it too!
I think you should win against them and then get more rating (if the game is rated). It is nice of you though to offer draws.
