Hanging requests to cdnjs.cloudflare.com

I was playing a tournament, and during two separate game starts, a request hung to cdnjs.cloudflare.com (where some JavaScript files, most notably JQuery, are hosted). Both times I had to reload the (mostly blank) page quickly once I realized it was stuck, to avoid losing my tournament game after 20 seconds.

Is there a significant benefit to hosting these files externally, instead of on e.g. lichess1.org/? They aren't any bigger than a lot of the other resources that are loaded from lichess1.org on a typical page, and will (like most other things) just respond with 304 Not Modified 99.x% of the time. I would suggest hosting these on lichess.org if feasible to reduce the possibility of third-party network issues causing problems like I was seeing.
