My mindset regarding playing people who are cheating.

I don't like to see people resorting to cheating.

But if I happen to play someone who is cheating then that doesn't bother me at all. I see all games as an opportunity to improve, if I get toasted by an AI, then maybe I should just get better so that one day I can toast the AI back. The only loser is the person wasting their time cheating.

Sure I may lose some rating points, but the whole thing is about having fun and improving.
"Sure I may lose some rating points"

This is not true you will aways get them back to your level ;)

You're not bothered or care if your opponent cheats but other people do mind it spoils Chess and poisons the atmosphere of trust and good will that's never good.

When I feel my opponent is using AI through intuition I stop there's nothing motivating playing a guy who's cheating.
@orrok:

I agree with you that cheaters are losers but I dont agree with you that playing against a hidden engine has anything to do with a serious competition. You will never ever have a chance to beat an engine.

Cheaters are no worthy competitors.

Hell must be freezing over, I agree with Nada. ;)

But yeah...#1, if you suspect a cheater, run some of their games through lichess analysis and if there is suspicious activity, report them via their profile. This happened to me in the hourly classical tournament just a couple days ago, everyone in the tournament called the guy out, we analyzed his games, several of us filed reports, and in less than 24 hours he was gone. No one wants to play cheaters, as you say.
